The “Envisioning the Future of Online Education in Viet Nam” panel discussion, moderated by ClassIn - an interactive digital classroom platform, took place at Hoa Sen University (HSU) on January 20, 2021.
The event features Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - HSU Vice President, representing Viet Nam higher education; YiChen Feng - investor representative from Lumos Capital Group (USA); Ms. Ngo Thuy Ngoc Tu - Founder and Chairman of the Board of YOLA; Ms. Truong Le Quynh Tuong and Mr. Do Van Nhan - representatives from ClassIn; as well as other experts in the education sector, lecturers, business leaders and investors.

On behalf of Viet Nam higher education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - HSU Vice President discussed about the opportunities and challenges towards virtual education, especially during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Accordingly, educationalists need to constantly emphasize student-centered teaching in online education despite doing so through technology. Given his experience with employing online learning platform at Hoa Sen University, Mr. Vu stated that the majority of students had acquainted themselves with e-learning, some even found it more interesting when the platform was integrated with new tools.
However, “for e-learning to be conducted efficiently, the school’s technology infrastructure needs investing and improving. Institutions needs to construct a good LMS (Learning Management System) which can be combined with many other tools and technologies to facilitate education”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu shared.

Addressing another important aspects in education, assessment, Mr. Do Van Nhan - ClassIn Customer Success Manager stated: “Currently, the outcome assessment technology has been greatly changed and improved thanks to virtual education. “Online” multiple-choice tests can now be implemented owing to AI monitoring, which guarantees the result integrity.”
In the future, education technology will be strongly developed with the surge of learning apps, mobile platforms and online-offline integrated education models, which will enhance students’ study experience.

“A full implementation of online education remains a long-term strategy, all depending on the leader’s vision. Only with a clearly-defined aim can institutions begin investing and carrying out the “online” conversion”, according to Mr. Nhan.
